Everyone on board is encouraged to get the most out of every day, whether sailing a thousand miles offshore or hiking to a remote island waterfall. Once aboard, crewmembers are assigned a cabin and berth. Watches of three to four people are assigned. While on watch, crewmembers share all the duties: steering, navigating, sail handling, minor repairs and system checks. Off watch, your time is your own, unless extra help is needed on deck.
Delicious meals are prepared by Alaska Eagle's full-time cook and all meals are kept as healthy as possible.
Galley cleanup is shared by all, as are daily cleaning duties above and below decks.
Once a landfall is reached, crewmembers head ashore in a sturdy inflatable. Crews often break into small groups for various activities: hiking, diving, meeting the locals . . . it's up to you. On island and coastal legs, frequent stops are made for shoreside exploration.
