Powerboat Operation CertificationDuring this two day course you will learn to operate our 46' Bertram Lucky Pirate with confidence and safe command in light to moderate conditions.  With coaching from a powerboat expert, this course allows time for both practical instruction and theory to help build your seamanship knowledge and powerboat handling skills. A key component of the course is close quarters maneuvering with twin screw engines. Docking, picking up a mooring and crew overboard prevention and recovery are covered underway. Other topics include: boat systems, engine and helm controls, boat control in open water, anchoring, marine mechanical and electrical systems, safety and emergency procedures, VHF radio operation and piloting rules.

Students interested in obtaining a US POWERBOATING Basic Powerboat Operation and Cruising Certification must take this course and also register for the written and evaluation section of the course. A passing grade on the practical and the written test is required for final certification.
