Radar

RadarRadar is the tool for safe navigation in the fog and darkness. It shows where other vessels are and defines the coastline and harbor entrance. Come learn how to set it up, adjust the picture, interpret the contacts, and use it to navigate safely.

This course will include a brief overview of radar principles and operation, definition of terms, navigation by range and bearing, use of the Variable Range Marker (VRM) and Electronic Bearing Line (EBL) in navigation and collision avoidance. Identifying radar targets and interpreting their movement and how to apply the Rules of the Road will also be included.

Hands-on training using the Starpath Radar Trainer simulator will follow classroom discussions.
